About THAT

The Howard Academy Trust currently operates four primary and three secondary academies based in Kent. Our academies have maintained/improved their Ofsted rating since joining the Trust and are successful.

As a Trust, we provide colleagues with opportunities to work across multiple academies with great opportunities for career progression. Employees have had opportunities to join our Into Middle/Senior Leadership development programmes led by experienced Senior Leaders from across the Trust to prepare them for career advancement.

Teaching in Kent

Kent is known throughout England as “The Garden of England” and is located in the South East, with excellent travel links to Central London and France.

The Medway Towns consist of Rainham, Gillingham, Rochester, Chatham and Strood, and provide excellent transportation links throughout the South East region.

Staff across the Trust praise leaders for how well they consider staff development, wellbeing and workload.

Ofsted MAT Summary Evaluation 2022

The Howard Academy Trust was selected by Ofsted to have a Multi Academy Trust Summary Evaluation at the end of the 2021/22 academic year. The process conducted was in depth and focused on the support and impact that The Howard Academy Trust has on its member academies. Receiving this Summary Evaluation at the end of the last academic year has provided THAT with external validation that we are a “Strong Trust” and that we provide support and challenge to our academies as appropriate.

Individually, all of our academies have maintained or improved their Ofsted rating since joining, with two schools going from inadequate to Good.

Staff Awards

The THAT Staff Awards are our opportunity to recognise some of the excellent staff across our academies that go above and beyond to support their students, colleagues and community. When nominations open each year, our entire Trust community can nominate someone for an award. We accept nominations from staff, students, AND their parents/carers!
