The Abbey School is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Caretaker to join our site team.
This role is 37 hours per week, all year round. The salary for this role is based on Kent Range 3.
OfSTED confirmed the school continues to provide a good education for all of its pupils. They noted several strengths including “strong leadership, the quality of teaching, improving exam results, a vibrant sixth form, good behavior, and an excellent level of care and safety”.

Apprentice Premises Operative

The Howard Academy Trust have a new role within the Central Operations Premises Team. This role has arisen due to Trust growth, having had an additional secondary school join us in April 2023 and further growth expected.
This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring future Premises and Estates professional to take their first step in their development.
The successful candidate will be a hardworking self-starter, will be proactive, and be able to travel between all schools within the Trust.
The hours for this role are 37 hours per week, all year round. The salary for this role is based on the Apprenticeship scale.

The Howard School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Teacher of Maths.
This post would suit an experienced or Early Career Teacher with good prospects for career development. The successful candidate will be a creative and dynamic practitioner who will be able to contribute to the development of our thriving Maths Department and help drive forward our agenda of continuous improvement.
This is a permanent role and we would consider full or part time. We are offering a £5,000 Golden Hello for this position, £2,500 to be paid at the end of a successful 6 month probation and £2,500 to be paid after a year (pro-rata'd for part time employees).

Attendance Manager - April 2024

The Abbey School is seeking to appoint a friendly, efficient, organised, enthusiastic Attendance Manager to join our attendance team in April 2024. The post involves monitoring student absence and punctuality, supporting parents and students in improving their attendance and the related administration and data. The person appointed requires good communication and inter-personal skills with a willingness to be adaptable to team needs. There is some wider community participation involved which is in line with KCSIE.
37 hours per week, term time only (FTE £28,598 - £32,333) - Actual £24,074.37 - £27,218.57.
Duties will include:
- Lead on Attendance, carrying out and co-ordinating the administration of Attendance to improve attendance rates and achieve the highest standard of educational achievement possible.
- Have experience of maintaining confidentiality and handling matters with sensitivity and discretion
- Have experience of managing a busy workload & conflicting priorities to deadlines whilst also be able to maintain accurate records.
- Maintain constructive relationships with parents/carers when exchanging information, facilitating their support for their child’s attendance, access and learning and supporting home to academy and community links.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team and the wider school community i.e. Heads of Year, Safeguarding Officer, SLT etc.
- Successful candidate will be working alongside the existing attendance officer who will be part time (Mon-Weds) until September offering a great opportunity for development and embedding.

Teaching Assistant

The Abbey School is looking for enthusiastic professionals with a genuine passion for education to join our well-established AEN team and make a difference. Minimum requirements are GCSE English and Maths Grade C or equivalent. Experience of working at ‘A’ level or higher education standard would be desirable.
The school has an SRP for students with ASD and the role involves primarily supporting students with an EHCP within the mainstream setting as well as the SRP. Training around supporting students with autism will be given.
Experience, of working with students that have special educational needs is an advantage, but most valued is the enthusiasm to support and motivate young people.
This role is 32.5 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks per year).
