Caron Johnson
Director of Primary Education, Inclusion and SEND
Caron Johnson is the Director of Primary Education, Inclusion, SEND and Outreach for The Howard Academy Trust. She has extensive experience in educational leadership, as a Headteacher for many years, as well as school improvement and governance, having worked across a range of settings to support children and young people to achieve their full potential. Caron has developed particular expertise in inclusion, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), alternative provision and supporting vulnerable learners.
Caron leads the strategic development of primary education, inclusion, SEND and outreach services across the Trust, working closely with school leaders, teaching staff and external agencies to ensure high-quality provision and positive outcomes for all pupils. She has significant experience of supporting schools to strengthen teaching and learning, develop effective leadership, improve outcomes and create environments where every child is valued, supported and able to thrive.
Passionate about improving life chances for children and young people, Caron has led a range of school improvement initiatives focused on inclusive practice, curriculum access, attendance, behaviour, safeguarding, early intervention and removing barriers to learning. She is committed to ensuring that inclusion sits at the heart of educational excellence and that all pupils, regardless of need or background, receive the support and opportunities necessary to succeed.
Working across both primary and secondary phases, Caron has built strong partnerships with school leaders, families and external professionals to develop sustainable, evidence-informed approaches to inclusion and school improvement. She is dedicated to developing leadership capacity, supporting professional development and ensuring that our Trust schools continue to provide outstanding educational experiences for all learners.
Caron also has extensive governance experience, having served as a governor for many years across the education sector. She currently serves as a governor at a local special school, bringing valuable strategic oversight and a continued commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs.
