Miers Court Primary School is celebrating a fantastic Ofsted result, receiving a majority ‘Strong Standard’ rating under the new Ofsted framework, with the school receiving five ‘Strong Standard’ and two ‘Expected Standard’ judgements.
Inspectors judged Attendance and Behaviour, Inclusion, Leadership and Governance and Personal Development & Wellbeing to be of ‘Strong Standard’, meaning that leaders are working above the standard expected of them.
The school’s curriculum was highly praised, being described as “thought provoking”, with Ofsted commenting on the many “interesting activities that staff design” for pupils, which ensures that they “achieve well”. It was highlighted that “Pupils’ attendance is above the national average” and that “attitudes to their learning are extremely positive”, reflecting the supportive and structured environment that the schools provides for its pupils each and every day.
Pupils feel welcome in this friendly and nurturing school. They arrive to a warm welcome and are keen to get started with their early morning work each day, as they listen to their favourite music.
Miers Court Primary school prides itself in its inclusive environment, and this was noted during the inspection: “Leaders create a culture where all pupils, no matter their barriers to learning, feel welcome. The school has a well-developed, tiered approach in place, which enables all pupils to access the same learning. All pupils benefit from this highly inclusive offer.” Attention was brought to the school’s classroom environments, which “are adapted with a variety of seating, desk heights and resources so that pupils can learn according to their needs.”
Of particular note was the school’s Early Years provision, which was also rated ‘Strong Standard’, a grading achieved by only 25% of schools inspected under the new framework so far. “Children get off to an excellent start in Reception. The curriculum is carefully designed so that children master the foundational skills and knowledge that they need to access the whole curriculum.” The school boasts impressive data, with “above average proportions of children” reaching national standards by the end of the Reception Year.
