  • Head of RE (£5k Golden Hello)

    The Abbey School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Head of RE who is committed to excellence, to start from September 2024.

    The successful candidate will be a creative and dynamic practitioner and leader who will be able to strive the development of our already thriving Religious Education and Studies department, and help drive forward our agenda of continuous improvement.

    This is a permanent, full-time role, paid on the basis of the School Teachers Pay & Conditions MPS/UPS, dependant on experience, with an additional TLR2c (£3,214).

    The school is offering a recruitment incentive of £5k. This is split into the following payments - £2.5k subject to the successful completion of a 6 month probationary period, and a further £2.5k to be paid in September 2025 as a retention incentive.

    Waterfront UTC is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Teacher of English who is committed to excellence from September 2024.

    The successful candidate will be a creative and dynamic practitioner who will be able to contribute to the development of our thriving English Department and help drive forward our agenda of continuous improvement.

    This is a permanent, part-time role, paid on the basis of MPS/UPS, dependant on experience. The working hours and days are negotiable and will be discussed at interview level.

  • Teacher of Science (£5k Golden Hello)

    This is a permanent role, 32.5 hours per week, paid based on MPS/UPS, dependant on experience.  A TLR or Recruitment and Retention amount is available for a candidate with the right skills and experience. 

    The Howard School is seeking to appoint a member of staff to join our Science Department. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, talented, and passionate Teacher of Science, to start from September 2024.

    The Science Department is very successful and offers a full range of courses across both GCSE and A Level, including A Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Science is very popular and is held in high regard by students, parents, staff and the Senior Leadership Team.

    Science is very well resourced, and we offer a wide range of extracurricular STEM opportunities where there is a high uptake from students.   • Volunteer Counsellor Placements

    The Howard Academy Trust

    Salary Voluntary work

    The Howard Academy Trust would like to offer Volunteer Counsellor placements in order to support our students. This will enhance the support already provided by the Trust to promote emotional health and well-being. It will also enable students to develop a resilience to help them cope with the difficulties they face. There are fully qualified Lead Counsellors in post at each school for support and advice.

     

    We have placements available at the following schools:

    • The Howard School
    • Waterfront UTC

     

    The successful candidates will need to commit to this placement for one full academic year. In return, the Trust will fund an enhanced DBS check and clinical supervision for the duration of the placement.

  • Cover Supervisor

    The Abbey School is seeking to appoint a highly effective Cover Supervisor, to start from September 2024.

    We are looking for an individual who is able to work calmly and independently with young people.  Applicants should have at least GCSE or level 3 BTEC qualifications and a minimum of GCSE English and Mathematics at C Grade (or equivalent). Experience of working with young people of the relevant age would be an advantage.  This position is seen as an ideal stepping-stone for those wishing to gain experience of schools to support an application for Graduate Teacher training.

  • SEN Teaching Assistant

    The Abbey School

    Salary Kent Scheme Pay Scale KR3 (FTE £23,337)

    The Abbey School is looking for enthusiastic professionals with a genuine passion for education to join our well established AEN team and make a difference. Minimum requirements are GCSE English and Maths Grade C or equivalent. Experience of working at ‘A’ level or higher education standard would be desirable.

    The school has an SRP for students with ASD and the role involves primarily supporting students with an EHCP within the mainstream setting as well as the SRP. The Abbey School has an SRP (Specialist Resourced Provision) for students with a diagnosis of ASC and students are included fully into mainstream life.Training around supporting students with ASD will be given. 

    This role is 32.5 hours per week, 8.30 to 3.30 (with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break) term time only- 38 weeks per year.

    KR3 FTE £23,337 per annum pro rata to hours worked

    Experience, of working with students that have special educational needs is an advantage, but most valued is the enthusiasm to support and motivate young people.
