Working so closely, we have built strong relationships and friendships, supporting each other in and outside the classroom.

Our staff are our greatest asset, and it is with their expertise, passion and teamwork that we can work together to build a community of successful learners. Join us as we shine a spotlight on members of staff across our academies, as they share their experiences and professional journeys within a THAT academy.

School:
Miers Court Primary School

Job Role:
Year R Classroom Teacher and PSHE Lead

"A typical day as an EYFS teacher is busy, hands-on and full of variety. It involves setting up engaging play-based activities, supporting children’s learning through exploration and helping them develop social, emotional and communication skills. Throughout the day, you continually observe and assess each child, using what you see to move their learning forwards by adapting activities and providing the right level of challenge. You interact closely with the children and tailor experiences to meet their individual needs. My favourite part of the role is most definitely teaching the children to read and write, and seeing them grow in confidence and independence.

In Year R, we all work closely as a team, supporting each other, sharing ideas and making sure every child gets the best possible experience. Working so closely, we have built strong relationships and friendships, supporting each other in and outside the classroom.

I am currently getting the opportunity to work with other THAT schools to develop a 'Healthy Living Week', that will take place in the last weeks of the school year. This has been a fantastic opportunity to have a say in a project that benefits not just the children within our academy, but those in neighbouring schools, allowing me to make a wider impact.

I also jointly help to run the school choir with the music lead, organising and preparing pupils for events such as Young Voices, the Key Stage Two music festival and the Carol Service at Rochester Cathedral, which I really enjoy.

The school has been really supportive in allowing me to attend important events for my own children, showing understanding and flexibility so that I can balance both my work and family life. That understanding and flexibility really makes Miers Court a fantastic place to work!"

The school has been really supportive.
