Waterfront University Technical College

Waterfront University Technical College joined THAT on 1 April 2019

Waterfront UTC joined the Trust on 1 April 2019.  It is a 14-18 mixed university technical college.  In 2020, it is scheduled to become an 11-18 academy.

‘Engineering and constructing bright futures’

The Howard Academy Trust is immensely proud to have Waterfront UTC as one of its family of academies.

WUTC is  a 14-18 University Technical College specialising in Engineering, Construction and the Built Environment. It delivers a unique and innovative curriculum which is not replicated in any other school or college in Medway. Young people are given the opportunity to access the knowledge and skills that will equip them to secure a route into employment and a career in a highly competitive specialist field.

WUTC is sponsored by the University of Greenwich and a range of employers.  These include BAM Construct UK, BAE Systems, Bouygues UK, Delphi Diesel Systems, The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board, Federation of Small Businesses, Kreston Reeves, Redrow Homes and the Royal School of Military Engineering. Employer sponsors work with WUTC to offer bespoke experiences and training for students.

The WUTC has an impressive track record of securing successful future destinations for students.  In 2018, a third of all sixth form students secured places on higher level Apprenticeship Programmes, with another third of students gaining a place at a university to study a degree programme related to the WUTC’s specialisms.

THAT primary academies have the unique opportunity to work together with WUTC, to promote enjoyment and competence relating to Engineering, Construction and the Built Environment. THAT want the specialisms available at the UTC to be of benefit to all our pupils.
